Centred around saxophonist Ornella Noulet and driven by a shared passion for John Coltrane’s spiritual jazz, OLA TUNJI is a Brussels-based quartet whose music embodies the intensity and open-mindedness of the 1960s ‘New Thing’ movement. Deeply inspired by John and Alice Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders and Albert Ayler, the group regards improvisation as a political and spiritual act. On stage, their performances often take on an almost trance-like intensity, transporting musicians and audience alike to a shared sense of elevation. The music serves as a reminder that it can still be a vehicle for love, brotherhood and collective elevation.
