Film on 18 June:
Bande d’hystériques ! by Kita Bauchet – 87 mins – Original version with French/Dutch audio – French/Dutch subtitles
Reflecting our post-#MeToo era, BANDES D’HYSTERIQUES tells the little-known story of the women’s liberation movements in 1970s Belgium. Through, in particular, the cheeky actions of the Dolle Mina in Flanders, the support for female miners by the Marie Mineur in Wallonia, and the International Tribunal on Crimes Against Women, which brought together 2,000 women from around the world in Brussels, our feminist legacy emerges with humour and defiance. The images of these struggles of the past and the encounters with the women who led them shed light on the path we still have to travel towards full gender equality in law and in practice.
